Sam Djodan, international surf ski paddler sponsored by Stellar Kayaks & Surf Skis and well known TV sports presenter in Australia will be training and competing in Europe for the summer and will be paddling in the Moray Firth Sea Kayak Challenge. Sam has offered to run some coaching sessions on the weekend of the event.
Sam is volunteering his time freely so that the coaching fees from his sessions can be used to support the event. The organisers are keen to reflect Sam's generosity and ensure that his coaching sessions are available to everyone so if you would like to attend any of the coaching sessions we would ask that you make a donation which Sam will pass on to support the Moray Firth Sea Kayak Challenge.
Nairn Beach. Friday 19 and Saturday 20 July 2019
The coaching sessions at Nairn will be as follows:
- Friday late afternoon
- Saturday morning before the event
If you would like to attend one of the coaching sessions please contact Gaven Mumberson prior to the event on firstname.lastname@example.org
Loch Ness. Sunday 21 July 2019
The downwind conditions on Loch Ness can be very good and you can see an example in this video. Michael Surmon is hoping to do a downwind on the Loch on Sunday 21 July and if it goes ahead would welcome others joinng him. (Note, this paddle is unsupported and can be a very challenging 17.5km downwind).
For paddlers who are capable of undertaking this downwind in an ocean surf ski unsupported there might be an option of some coaching during it on the Sunday. As this is weather dependent please speak with Gaven Mumberson of the Roughwater Gear Company at the BBQ after the Moray Firth Sea Kayak Challenge.
