The Moray Firth Sea Kayak Challenge
took place on Saturday 20 July 2019. Thank you to all of the volunteers and competitors who made it possible. The results can be seen on our results page.
Enjoy paddling in the Moray Firth from Ardersier to Nairn following a route which will take you between Fort George and Chanonry Point which is famous for its school of dolphins.
The event is based in Nairn which is a twenty minute drive from Inverness Airport and is therefore easily accessible from many parts of the country including: London; Birmingham; Manchester; Belfast City; and Bristol. For those southern paddlers wanting to enter the event where the option of having their boat taken up and returned might be of use the Stellar kayak trailer will be going up from the London area and returning to London and will have some spare spaces on it. Please contact Gaven on email@example.com.
You can complete the challenge in any kind of sea kayak, surf ski or canoe, racing or recreational, that is designed/suitable for use on the sea. There are male and female categories for touring, performance sea racing canoes and kayaks and surf skis.
The prevailing wind is from the west so the expected route is from Arderseir to Nairn. Should there be an easterly wind there is an alternative route from Findhorn to Nairn which may be used.
Entry before Sunday 30 June 2019 is necessary if you want to take advantage of the early bird rate. Entries are accepted up to and including the day of the event.
The event is being organised by Nairn Kayak Club and is based in Nairn.
Please read the rules before you enter.
